ButtonOrange In a study on cold and flu-like illness among University students, 27.8% reported doing poorly on a test and 46.3% did poorly on a class assignment because of their cold or flu-like illness.  Students with colds missed 1.5 - 1.9 hours of extracurricular activities and 3.5 - 4 hours of social activities per illness while students with influenza-like illness missed 3.4 - 5 hours of extracurricular activities and 7.7 - 10 hours of social activities.

ButtonOrange Door handles, pens, light switches, TV remote controls, faucets, and telephones were all found to be frequently contaminated with rhinovirus (a virus causing the common cold) in a study of environmental contamination with rhinovirus in hotel rooms.
