by fluu last modified 2008-05-23 18:35

The information presented on this website was designed as part of a study at the University of California, Berkeley to provide advice on how people can stay healthy during cold and flu season.  This site, Flu-U, was only available for REDI-US Study participants randomly allocated to the intervention group during the course of the study.  Flu-U is now available for viewing by the general public.  Take a look around and enjoy!

Additional information about the REDI-US Study can be found below, under "Information about the REDI-US Study" or by clicking here.

Talk to the Fifth Person!

Are you tired of people around you coughing or sneezing into their hands, then touching a doorknob or something that you were just about to touch?  What about a classmate who continues to cough or sneeze right next to you, and doesn't cover their mouth?  What can you do to protect yourself from catching their cold or flu?  Talk to them!

You will learn tips on this website about how to keep yourself and those around you healthy. Don't be shy about sharing these tips with your friends and family, the person sitting next to you on the bus, your fellow classmates, and anyone else around you!

  • This website has been designed to present information on why certain behaviors are important to follow, especially during cold and flu season.  This website does not emphasize information about medications or foods that you might think could help you keep from catching a cold or the flu; it is all about behaviors.

  • Think this sounds like old news?  We bet that there is some information on this site that is new to you.  Are you sure you're washing your hands correctly?  Do you cough into your sleeve, or know why you should wear a mask if you are sick?  If not, take a look through this site to learn why.
